The spiel

I am a journalist, content writer, and editor based between Mumbai, India (and, less frequently, Lisbon, Portugal).

I write about travel, culture, social justice, and my experience of being raised as a third-culture kid. My essays and journalism have appeared in the Al Jazeera, BBC, CNN, Dazed, Lonely Planet, Wired, and more.

Currently, I’m Lonely Planet’s Destination Editor for Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Until recently, I also had a monthly column on JSTOR Daily, “Once Upon a Workplace,” which explored the world of jobs lost to time and technology.

Before freelancing full-time, I trained as a copywriter at R K SWAMY BBDO, an Indian agency that was once part of the global BBDO network. While there, I worked on a few big-name brands, including Pampers and Isuzu Motors India. I still take on a few copywriting clients, and I particularly love working with small businesses.
